For the Living Coast Residency 2023 I went looking for "shimmer," a shorthand for hard-to-define euphoric qualities of health-giving landscapes.
At ONCA I showed spoolers made with Neil Manuell's web app which allows the viewer to play with the speed, forward and rewind a photo-animation, a way of adding back in some of the sensory nature of walking out. Best viewed on a touch screen: |
I walked with local land guardians, people who work with their communities to revel in and safeguard nearby wild, to hear their take on "shimmer" and the processes in action when we walk out. Heartfelt thanks to Polly Eason from Coldean Community Organisation, Helen Forester or Benfield Valley Project and Kim Greaves of Friends of Waterhall. ![]() |
I made a series of short video works during a week-long Instagram takeover at Fabrica.
